  • KDSDJ.com - INTRODUCING - SUNITA DEVI

Born and raised in Wolverhampton, England, the Singer/Songwriter/Radio DJ started performing at the age of 15 where she performed Aaliyahs "Try Again" at her high school. After getting a great reaction from the crowd she discovered how much she loved the stage. While singing at her local youth club her former mentor Joe Deans overheard Sunita singing for a few friends and discovered that it wasn't the radio, it was Ms.Devi herself. Quickly rushing her off to Sam Sharpe Studio in her hometown, she recorded her underground hit track "Angel Or A Star".

She went on to meeting Keith "Spok" Dilworth who had produced smash hits for top Rnb artist Beverley Knight and Babylon Zoo. Spok went on to producing many more of Sunitas demo. While working endless hours in the studio she caught the eye of Bhangra Producer PBN who asked her to appear on his new track "Jogi" for his sophomore album "The Net Episode". The album was a success in the Punjabi Entertainment industry with "Jogi" being well received.

Sunita then took her hand at hosting her own live Urban radio show at WCRFM, where she hosted/produced "The One Foot Skank Show" with her sister, DJ Nin. The show became a global hit raking in listeners from The United States, France, Germany, The Netherlands and The Middle East. "The One Foot Skank Show" became the most listened show in the stations history. Speaking of the experience Sunita says, "The key to the show being successful was the chemistry of the presenters. Me and Dj Nin were just having a good time and that defiantly showed on the airwaves. I don't think there was ever a dull moment when we went live."

After three wonderful years at WCRFM, Sunita decided to move to the Big Apple, recording 2 albums as part of a duo with Bronx rapper The R.E.D. With catchy melodies and a fun image the girls were asked to perform for Joe Jackson's T.V show "Joe Jackson's Hip Hop Boot Camp". They made it to the final cut but after creative differences decided to go their separate ways only to duet on each others new material 3 years later.

These days Sunita Devi is back and forth from the UK to the US all year round, recording with Ryan Pinson at Zip recording studios. Ryan has produced the 60's inspired track "Slippin" that showed a new side to Sunita.
"I wanted to show how versatile I am and when I sat down with Ryan and explained what I wanted he just seemed to have read my mind and 'Slippin'" was born. This track makes me feel good and I just wanted people to realize that there are so many sides to me." Says the 24 year old British sensation.

Sunita Devi is making moves so don't miss out on the new Desi Chick coming out of the United Kingdom.
