1. For those who don't know who you are, give us a little info about yourself?
I am solo artsit Asha J and also an international supporting vocalist and member of the Uk and Bollywood Group Stereo Nation.My music is very fusioned and sing in three launages hindi,punjabi and English working with western,desi and urban beats.I mainly work for a Bollywood feel with the music and vocals which are mainly in Hindi
2. How did you get into Music and now Singing, where did it all begin?
I began singing when i was about eight as coming from a musical background we were often encouraged to perform at family gatherings.I was recognised for my writing skills by a record company i used to work for by one if the renowned artists who encouraged me to hook up with a producer he knew.I then went on to record my first single Breakloose.
3. Your brand new album"DIWANA The Album" coming out soon! Tell us about it & What we can expect from it?
Diwana The Album is a very mixed fusion album in hindi,punjabi,English with western,desi,house,rnb,urban and regga vibes.A cross over album appealing to a wider audience obviously most tracks have a bollywood feel to them
4. What tunes should we watch out for?
Diwana and Night and Day are the two big tracks to look out for on the album with remixes done from mumbai to mainstream remixers.
5. What about Videos this time?
Diwana is a classy Bollywood feel video playing on tv networks at the moment with Asha for Peace following soon my World Peace project video.The Night and day video commences in the new year.
6. Who would you say has had the most influence on your singing career?
MY inspirations have been my family memebers but mainly Bollywood singer 'Alka Yagnik' Ji who has massive number one hits one to my all time favourite with title track 'KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI' from the film.Love her sweet voice and style of singing.
7. Which Rapper are you rating at the moment?
Im not really into rapping so dont really rate anyone in particular enjoyed working wih my rapper on my track 'Night and Day'.
8. Rishi Rich or Dj DEV?
Oh they both deserve credit but because of my style of music and that i love electro/trance has to be DJ DEV.
9. Album coming on which records Comp. ?
The album is releasing on my record label i am proud to say 'AJ MUSIC RECORDS.'how great!
10. If there was one artist from the past or present that you would collaborate with, who would it be?
I would love to work with Atif Aslam.
11. There are not many big vocalists in the UK in the Bhangra industry. What do you think is halting the success of local vocalists getting into the limelight?
Well i dont artists in the Uk are really given that support,exposure or platform i think these days its about who you know,how much money you.I think its very hard to break in unless you have the music connections and obviously the talent that stand out.
12. With the album coming now, you must hope fans go out and support the album; do you have a message for the people who have decided to download your album for free rather than purchase it legally?
I would like to thank everyone for my their support for Diwana The Album over the last few months as it wa being finished as the promo feedbacks where great.Also that this is just the beggining i want to do this for them and hope to make bigger albums in the future with their love and support.To learn anything from this album that will enable me to become the best artist i can ever be.
